Sean D’Souza Is Blogging and The Vital Importance of Consumption

Recall my interview with Sean D’Souza? Since the interview I have been poking him with a pointy blogging stick and he has finally started his blog to stop me nagging at him. He has already posted some great stuff, like this one about getting your customers to actually consume what you deliver them …
Why Customers Buy And Still Leave Shortly After (The secret of consumption)

why on earth would you order such a delicious meal and not eat it? Even as you read this piece you’re salivating about the meal, so why would you skip eating it when it’s sitting right there in front of you? You ordered it, didn’t you? It smells delicious doesn’t it? So why the heck would someone not eat it?

The answer is not as ludicrous as it seems. You’re sure to lose your appetite when you realise how you lose truckloads of dollars simply because you don’t get the customer to consume what they’ve ordered.

It does seem strange, why would someone buy something then not use it? Ask your local fitness centre, look at my book shelf filled with unread books, take a look at my bike rusting in the garden, the french language course gathering dust on my hifi …

If you want to turn your customers into raving fans it is not enough for them to buy, they need to experience, they HAVE to consume.

  1. Chris,

Thanks for highlighting yet another great resource on the web. Thats another £60 done on the plastic but based on what I saw and read at the site its probably going to be well worth it. Keep on highlighting and perhaps you could do a quick blog post of ‘The 10 most important web resources Chris says you must go see’.

    Regards
