Hi Chris,
This is such a brilliant report. As a teacher, coach trainer and consultant it helped me understand not only the opportunities that exist, but why I enjoy this medium so much!
Thanks for the tip,
S.

Chris,
I think that teaching is an integral part of being an "Authority Blogger" as you call it. If you cannot teach it you may not know it. When I go to a store, and I need help, I feel more confidence in the advice I am given if it comes with a sense of experience and understanding. If I am buying fertilizer or a new faucet, I want the person to tell me what to look for as I do the installation or application.

My area of expertise is biology. I cannot image trying to sell products to researchers without the ability to tell them how this item can be used. I may spend more time per customer but I believe it comes back in the long run. It becomes a part of the brand experience.

Now that I help companies get started, having started a few of my own, I can share with them what they need to look for as they go forward. It's always teaching, but rarely lecturing.

I look forward to an interesting read. If you recommend it, it must be good.

"Why you're not normal, and why that's a good thing" LOL!! I've been saying this for years.

Thanks for the heads up Chris. Brian's terrific (I look forward to his session at BlogWorld), especially because he has a few opinions that seem to contradict what other probloggers are saying. Can't wait to read this!

Oh great, there goes my productivity for today! ;)

Looking forward to reading this: the topic reflects some of the recent discussion in the forum, not to mention buzzing in my head, and Brian Clark's always got something to say that's worth reading.
