Great round-up, very helpful. I’ve had great results with StumbleUpon, although it’s highly variable–one Stumble will get me a nice surge of traffic, another won’t see a peep. It’s a highly addictive way to waste a few minutes, also.

@Joseph – Good to know there are email subscribers who are enjoying it – I get between 5 and 10 unsubscribes a day so sometimes it feels like I am driving people away rather than helping

@Systema – It does take a lot of time and tbh I don’t much like MySpace. Having said that some people have done very well out of it so might be worth a try.

I just wish Stumbleupon had a more conventional interface. I like del.icio.us more, but I do get more referrals from Stumble.

You didn’t mention Myspace in this article. I have been thinking about setting up a profile to promote my site but heard that it takes a bunch of time to manage properly. Should I do it, or will it eat up my time?

Another great article Chris. I’ve been doing development for a couple of years and I’m just now jumping into the Internet Marketing game. I have to say your email lights the fire daily.

@mark – I prefer to do it this way rather than a straight list but it does take waaay longer this way I am not sure who coined the phrase, Liz, Jan or Joanna but apparently this style is called “Thematic Linking“…

Thanks for the great list.. but I’ll just like to highlight some other articles that could be included, primarily because of their depth and approach to the topic.

Tamar from Techipedia.com has one on Digg that is excellent. As you probably already know, she’s a top Digg user and this is one of the better articles out there about using Digg:

I haven’t read anything similar to my del.icio.us article.

Thanks for the social media round-up Chris. I would have to say reddit has been great to me. Digg provides some traffic but I have always gotten more with reddit. I put one of my articles on reddit and an avid visitor enjoyed my article he put it on stumbleupon and I had great traffic for the entire week that I wrote it. So i’m giving 2 thumbs up for reddit.

I like how you weaved it all together Chris, including links that simply supported what you were saying, brilliant. Reminds me of a singer, Willie Porter, who when playing live asks the audience for words, like people, places and events and then makes up a song with the audiences chosen words. He does a great job with it.
