Send Me Your Flagship Content Links!

Have you read my free ebook “Creating Killer Flagship Content“? The single most popular question I get asked by people after reading it is “can you show me some examples?“.

One thing to understand is what a reader might think is a Flagship post for a blogger might be different to what the blogger his or her self considers their best work. If readers know you because of a particular piece of content or resource, or they come back to one piece repeatedly and tell their friends, then you have created Flagship Content, intentionally or not.

Here are five examples:

  1. The ebook itself is an example, most people catch that.
  2. Brians Copywriting 101
  3. Darren fills the top left corner of his blog with his Flagship Content, but I would say this fantastic post has done more for his profile than any other article he has written
  4. Here is one of many of my favourite posts from Liz
  5. The Almighty Godin, it would either be this free ebook or Permission Marketing.

Now I could continue, but I think there is an opportunity here for you to dig out your own Flagship Content, work out from all of your archives where your lead content is and get it noticed. It will help you understand what value you are producing and will make for interesting reading for the rest of us.

So, send me your Flagship Content!

Send me one link to a piece of content, article, tool, resource, list, video, podcast, whatever. Which post defines your blog? What piece of content has been bookmarked the most and given you maximum word of mouth? Have you got an article that people still talk about and comment on?

    Great idea, Chris! I have submitted mine. Thank you for providing this opportunity for bloggers. I’m sure you’ll have some interesting points to make about the various approaches to flagship content.

    Hi Chris,

    I obviously also send you a link :-)

    What I sent you is not my most read article (the Einstein approach to blogging still is as it was linked to by Brian Clark), but it is perhaps the one summing up what I do and hope to do the best. It is a mixture of vision, mission and “how to” as I see it. I hope you like it too…

    I am particularly looking forward to you applying your analytical and critical skills in taking it apart from a Flagship standpoint so don’t let me down :-D

    This idea has such merit. I hope it really takes off. Sharing flagship content is a great way to show what a blogger can do. It really is a blogger’s best promotion. I wonder if you might tell more about what you’re thinking of?

    I have some great ideas . . .
    Liz

    Chris, … this will be the next meta resource and of great referential value, both for the gathered content as well as for the structural and exemplary uses.

    Cheers,
    Alex

    @Michael - Thanks, I hope it will be interesting for everyone :)

    @Jan - I will try ;)

    @Liz - Do share your ideas :) Really the idea is just to see what people share and to show the wide variety of flagship content there is out there …

    @Alexander - I hope so

    Tell me about the cool plugin that allowed you to put the form up??

    Mike

    It’s a great idea Chris. I’ve sent my link and I’m interested to see what the final (mega) resource looks like.

    @Michael - Once we have ironed the bugs out we will be releasing it :)

    @Galba - I do hope it is mega :)

    Michael, the form script looks to be a wordpress plugin called dd-formmailer, i’ve used it a few times, really easy to use and pretty powerful

    No it’s actually a custom plugin that my WordPress hacking friend Damian is developing for me. It’s pretty cool but not quite ready to share yet :)

    Mike, you could get something similar with Cform. It’s highly configurable and can be used in-post.

    This is a great idea, Chris. I’m interested in seeing how other’s determine what their flagship content is. You’re so right about what becomes most popular and what we consider our best work being greatly different at times.

  13. Marc July 21st, 2007 5:14 pm

    Thanks for this opportunity, Chris, this is a wonderful idea, and a neat way to promote your e-book. I’ve filed it away for the day when I have an e-book of my own :) I don’t think that the post I submitted actually qualifies as “flagship content”, save that it is one of the most highly viewed articles on my blog, so I thought I’d drop it in here, and see what happens… Thanks again for this opportunity :)

  14. Chris Garrett July 23rd, 2007 2:51 pm

    @Michael - Our plugin is very specific but it’s good to know there are other solutions out there

    @Rick - It’s interesting for me too, fascinating to know what people consider their flagship content

    @Marc - All we can ever do is drop it in and see what happens, such is life! ;)

  15. Steven Bradley July 24th, 2007 7:41 am

    Thanks for the opportunity Chris. Looks like I beat the deadline.

    I’ll add another vote for the plugin and a thanks to Damian. I’ll be looking forward to its release.
