How to Easily Boost Your Technorati Rank

My Technorati Authority seems to have been stuck for months. Luckily I might have a solution!

Now before I tell you the “secret”, I have to inform you that this will only work for an established blog. A brand new blog will have to focus on gaining new links.

With that caveat out of the way, what is this big trick?

It seems that Technorati misses a lot of the links pointed at your blog. This leads to a familiar frustration for many bloggers who feel that they are not getting the recognition they deserve.

To be fair it is not Technorati’s fault if the people who link to you do not make their blogs known to the service. That’s where you can help them, you and Technorati at the same time.

When you get a new referrer that isn’t noted by Technorati, submit it so that it shows up.

How to Get the Technorati Rank You Deserve

  1. Gather a list of blogs linking to you – you can use a tool or a Yahoo! link: search
  2. Submit the list to Technorati – manually or using a service

Easy, eh? :)

To make it even easier, there is a tool over at Sebastian’s Pamphlets to make submitting to Technorati as simple as copy, paste and click!

I’m going to try it and hopefully I should see a small jump in my rank!

  1. Great tip. My blog is one of those that seem to be underrated on technorati. At least by judging on the number of linkbacks, it seems it should deserve a little more authority. I’d definitely try this out.

  2. Nishu

lol .. nice tip .. earlier it was easier when technorati used to think blog-url/date/post-name is the only way to add entries to blog .. Then you can ping all the pages on your blog itself to gain a huge technorati rank boost.. But seems like now technorati got intelligent.

  3. Awesome stuff. Never thought about that. I have noticed a few that Google reported but Technorati didn’t. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Awesome!

I am using the promote-my-site.com’s service for this. They compile an iMacro script to be run on iMacro. (FREE Fixefor Add-on and Shareware Standalone Application)

This is so awesome, simply because you can get all your linkbacks – including the links you get for being a top commenter or just blog comments – to be pinged and to help you boost your rank.

    Thanks for sharing this Chris.

  5. Great tip, but it’d be pretty funny if your next post is “how to get unbanned from Technorati”. Heh. Hopefully they don’t get mad.

I’m actually a little bit ticked off at Technorati right now. Before my blogging break my blog was ranked around 19,000, but about halfway through it dropped to 30,000 for no apparent reason. Wish I could solve that mystery.

  6. @Guilherme – Yeah it seems a lot of blogs are not in Technorati so the links don’t show, though I can see why as it is one more thing for people to work out.

@Nishu – I’m glad really, it was a pain to see random stuff appearing :)

@Ruchir – Hopefully we will all see a boost :)

@MindBlogger – Does that Macro thing work on Macs?

@Jeremy – I am hoping they see it as a good thing rather than a bad thing. Not advocating spamming, just letting them know about real links that have been missed :)

  7. Chris, I would be careful with this. A member on my forum recently reported that they’d been banned by Technorati for doing something similar to this. Granted, they pinged Technorati “a LOT over a very short time” and who knows what that means exactly but it sounds like there is at least some risk involved.

  8. Great tip.

Question – should I be tagging keywords for Technorati in my posts?

  9. I can submit them myself? Thanks for that info!

  10. Thanks for the tip, Chris! I read your blog through Google’s feed reader, and I “starred” this post so I can refer back to it later, when I have the extra time to put it into action. :)

  11. Lid

    Great tip Chris

I’d love to know how it works out for you – I hit a stumbling block with Technorati earlier this year – talk about frustrating – so this is extremely useful. Thanks

  12. Kojak

Is this working for bloglinks only?? Or is it ok if i submit links from websites but not a blog??

  13. George

This is an interesting idea. I get backlinks to my own blogs with backlinksolutions and find that they don’t always appear in technorati.

  14. Chris, the Macro thing works wherever Firefox works.. But the standalone version is not free. That’s why I recommend the Firefox Add-on..

  15. Albert

let me know if you got a boost

  16. I guess my question is more to what does it help to have a higher technorati ranking? Can it help your posts rank in the search engines? or the blog itself?

Due to the quantity of spam comments this blog attracts, comments close on new posts soon after publishing.
