Either by intention or by default, branding starts during the design and strategy stage of creating a new blog. That’s when the blogger chooses the niche (subject matter and keywords) and lays the foundation for what kind of a blog they intend to create, selects a url, blog title and blog tagline that reflect the intended “brand”. Thereafter, branding begins to shift as a reader community develops and grows.

Ultimately, the blogger and the reader community become co-creators of an ever evolving brand. Unless a blogger answers your two questions and reviews and revises their answers as time progresses they are, in essence, blogging in the dark.

I recognize this. I've acted on it, blogged about it, and I've posed the same questions to other bloggers. I'm happy to see you beating the drum too, as I will now have an authoritative post I can backlink to when the next confused blogger asks me for help.

It's alarming how many people don't have audience profiles for their businesses let alone their blog/web site! Having said that I found that identifying and profiling my own blog audience so I could understand their issues and problems took up more time than anything else I've subsequently done on it :)

I really do think care is important. When I first started blogging I was a little greedy with what I did... And hypey, and stupid. But yeah, now I'm like totally around that!

I've gotten a lot better results with that. I'm posting daily, helping people out, and I get tons of repeat readers now!

I can see why Authority Blogger would be a cool program.

I get it Chris. Some of us need to get our head in the game. How can we have a blogs if we have no idea what our blog is about?
I'm still in the process of tweaking my blog.
Keep teaching Chris, we're listening and learning.

I have been beating this particular drum for a while, so it puts a smile on my face to see you cover this, Chris. This is that all-important first step you want to get right, because it's going to determine your future success (or... not).

Excellent note. I love the fact that you need to charge your client to make your opinion or advice matter to him. This makes him take action, get benefited and appreciate you later.
