Thanks for the reminder Chris.

I just started using audio on my blog...the first entry took me about 20 attempts before I felt somewhat satisfied with it. The second one was much easier and I took your advice...didn't worry about making it perfect. Instead, I focused on getting the info out to my readers. While it may not sound perfect, it does sound "real."

Next project...video!

Hey Chris-

My favorite part of the video wasn't the content- although it's dead on and I love that you brought it in.

My favorite part was the juxtaposition of the high-power music, with calm, tranquil, understated you. I loved the mashup.

And let me just give you some argh!empathy for the lost time on the video. Argh!

This is so true. I'll keep this in mind. I'm starting a video series of my own and think that mistakes will only allow my personality to show through. :) I think good feedback is helpful for improvement and learning.

Hello! The video was cool! I like what your post said too. I am reminded of something my dad always told me. He'd say "If you're not making mistakes then you're not doing anything". I love that statement. Not to say that you should be making tons of mistakes but if you are consistently doing something, taking action or working hard then you will make a mistake now and again. We should never allow fear of failure to stop us! :-)

Good advice not just for blogging and new media, but for LIFE! My brother once shared a saying with me that I thought was great and has stuck with me: "Strive for excellence, not perfection."

Hi Chris:

Really nice job. Believe it or not, it actually brought tears to my eyes.

My biggest beef is with people who lead with criticism and attitude. After a line like "why did you do THAT?" anything nice they may say is in the category of "you don't sweat much for a fat chick."

I especially like the people who've never tried (or succeeded in doing what you do (posting a video, writing a book, maintaining a high profile blog) yet they somehow feel they have insight into how YOU should do it.

I'd rather offer 110% of what I know, even if it's not perfect, than troubling over perfection and offering nothing at all.

I'm not saying I don't want feedback. I do. But put it in the p.s. so it's not the focus of the comment. If it's a particularly embarrassing mistake, like spelling the word "genius" wrong, send a private email.

People also ought to recognize the difference between opinion and fact. Those with the imperious attitude that their way is the only way are particularly annoying. Some would say, just ignore them, but that's easier said then done. It's funny how one negative comment can offset dozens of complements.

Thanks for sharing your humanity Chris.

Hi Chris, Congrats
The first time is always a bit of a flunk, I think everybody needs to remember that we are all susceptible to nerves. For me video is a bridge to far, maybe later on down the road once i get my plastic surgery paid for. NOT!
