Thank you for a great post Chris!

We often tend to get distracted by something a little more "fun" than we are currently doing, or some new idea. However, in the long run it is always persistence and smart work that pays off.

Self-discipline is not the easiest when you work from a home office but I will keep in mind the picture of the long long road and the 3 steps are already on my whiteboard!

Looking forward to more posts!

Thanks for this nice and short article.I strongly agree with you about what you have say in this article. I have done most bad things mentioned in this article. In the beginning of my university life I want to become a Java guru, But after 1 and half I move to C (going backwards in the time line of PLs). But I think that's good decision, because now I am a Apache committer for Axis2/C web services engine project. But still I tend to move from one technology to another, from C to Python, Python to JavaScript (AJAX), again to C. Currently I am in my final semester of undergraduate life. In my final year I want to become a blogger. I start several blogs, but nothing succeeds. At my las semester I found the Yaro's entrepreneurs-journey .com and through it I found lot of great blog like yours. That changed my style. Now I am focusing on only specific areas.
Thanks for your great articles and Killer Flagship Content guide.

Hi Chris,
I have been thinking a lot about this. I often am snagged by some bright shiny thing on the road. But I press on.

Don't worry, I am not going to forex bond trade or anything. I'm talking about something more mundane. But isn't money mundane? Anyway...

Right now I think really more of my time should be spent concentrating on the magagazine market then online job stuff. I am fine tuning everything, and I think it takes time, especially since this is my first year freelancing.

I need to be kind to myself. Not expect too much.

Super article! I heartily agree, and I'm often among those who switch roads far too often. Thanks for this bit of encouragement to keep on track!

Great post.

I heard an interview of Sir Edmund Hillary a few days ago, and he commented that there were many failed attempts on Everest before his first success, but that once it was proved to be possible many others followed successfully.

Many people give up because they lose faith.
