I use spam karma and it catches everything. It watches old posts and that is a red flag. People can post on old if they don’t trip any other flags. I don’t think it is a good idea to just turn off comments on old posts. You never know when you will start ranking for some random term.

Ok, self promotion time…shame, shame, I know…

I just finished putting the finishing touches on a new WordPress plug-in called TransferTweaks. TransferTweaks takes your “after the fact” code modifications placed in the head, footer, and sidebar and stores them in the WordPress database. Now, when you decide to switch to a new theme you no longer need to move your code tweaks by hand. As long as TransferTweaks is active, your code will always be present in the current theme.

This was my first attempt at creating a plug-in but I am hoping that others may find it useful…I know I use it on all of my WordPress blogs to transfer my Google Analytics, MyBlogLog, etc. code to subsequent templates

@Logo – nice, I will try it out

@Goddess – good thing about this plugin you dont have to remember, just set it to email you routinely

@Adam & Blaine – often the way, think of something and someone somewhere has written a plugin for it

@Jen – heh, one less thing to make you turn the air blue eh?

@Jeremy – come on over to wordpress (.org, not .com), it’s the best blog software around

@Ashish – seems to be compatible, no complaints so far …

@Adam – Not tried any cache solutions, even when I get dugg I don’t really see the need but quite willing to be swayed. Not as geeked-up on this stuff as I once was

Great list. There are so many wonderful plugins for wordpress that is surely one of the great attractions of the system. I will definately look into the sitemap plugin shortly. Have you tried using WP-Cache? I could not get it to work properly.

Comment timeout is a good plugin, but what if the users want to ask some questions on some old posts. I still get comments on some of my older posts when people come from search engines.

@Chris: Is Comments manager compatible with Subscribe to comments. If i reply from there will it still send emails to thers who have subscribed
