Email Fix and Packing for Kjerringøy
This Week
Just a quickie this morning as I am tidying up and preparing for my trip to Kjerringøy, Norway. I will be there with a client for the week telling them how great I am and how lucky they are to have me around. Or something.
Posts will be pre-populated but I hope to get wifi. After what happened last time I am taking no chances though! Please forgive me if I do not answer comments as swiftly as usual.
Email Problems
Hopefully I got my email fixed up thanks to the wonderful services of DNSStuff and Fastmail.fm - if you need to diagnose DNS issues (turned out it was my domain supplier at fault) or need reliable IMAP email then check out those two services (neither are aff links).
One person warned me I might have been added to a spam filter - sometimes people mark as spam rather than unsubscribe from email digests and newsletters. To make it easy for people to contact me I use a real email address on my feedburner email digest. Please let me know if the spam theory looks to be the case for you?
There was a little down time while DNS issues were diagnosed and tweaked but hopefully the people I lost will return. It’s probably far more important that I get email swiftly than I have 100% uptime for one weekend.
It seems to be working now, I just received an email sent out on the 4th June :S
If you sent me an email recently and I didn’t reply, please try again.
Congratulations to Raj
Raj was mentioned in the New York Times! Jeremy and Darren were also mentioned but they are old hands at this kind of thing. So well done Raj.
Subscribers
Talking about congratulations, a couple of people pointed out I broke the 3,000 subscribers number before the weekend. It’s a bit early to celebrate because feedburner stats are always in flux but thanks for those who congratulated me. For all the people who asked how I did it, sign up for my new newsletter and look out for my forthcoming ebook. I could have had probably double that count but there are good reasons why I didn’t follow those tactics, you will learn about those reasons and tactics in the book also.
I’m such a tease!

You’re coming to Norway? Nice, though I can’t help but to wonder what kind of mighty client you’re working with, seeing how they’re bringing you over!
Anyways, you’re coming at the right time. The weather isn’t half bad, and you should probably even get a look at the midnight sun. Or maybe not, I’m not sure whether Kjerringøy is north of the arctic circle, especially since there are several places called Kjerringøy
Anyways, hope you have a nice time!
Hey, thanks Chris. Maybe next time I’ll actually have something worthwhile to say
Regarding the spam filter - I’ve been struggling to get you out of my outlook junk folder for a couple of weeks - tried all sorts of rules etc. This post is the first to come to my inbox in ages. Don’t know why, none of the others did.
Anyway, great stuff and well worth fishing out of the junk.
I just discovered DNSStuff this past week, can’t believe how much it’s possible for even a techno-plutz like me to learn from their free reports. As for Fastmail.fm - after 3 years of super-reliable service, I can’t praise them enough! Hope all this goodness keeps you sorted out while you travel - and do have a great trip!
@Lars-Christian - They are a nice client indeed to bring me over but of course they got the benefit of spending time with me
I did experience the midnight sun - madness!
@raj - you always do
@Andrew - It’s crazy but I think people persist on adding me to junk rather than unsubscribing
@Jen - Thanks and I did have a wonderful trip
