Wow! Congratulations on your blog's success. For only being "online" six months, your blog is doing very well!!!
I've been blogging about the same amount of time and I'm still struggling to get even a dozen hits a day - although those days are much more frequent now.

For me, producing quality content on a consistent basis has been my goal since starting my literature-related blog. And it has paid off. I'm getting much more traffic from search engines and a few more comments.

The only thing my blog is lacking is making me money. But that's not why I'm doing it. So now I'm starting to concentrate on optimizing my different advertising streams so that maybe my blog can pay for my hosting and other blog-related expenses.

I knew that I'm not going to get rich doing this, so it doesn't bother me at all. Heck, I just love writing and posting daily and relish any feedback I get from my readers.

Thanks for the great post. I recently discovered this blog and added it to my list on Google Reader!!! Will be reading frequently!

Hey Chris-

I'm just starting out with a new blog that is meant to follow all the ups and downs of a business venture that I'm starting up. Its purpose is to give and receive ideas on internet marketing and see if a startup can compete with the big boys in the industry. I'm hoping it will provide an interesting story as well as giving lots of knowledgeable people an outlet for their ideas.

Anyway, I am extremely impressed with your growth and I plan on subscribing to your feed. I am certainly an amateur blogger, but I hope that I will be able to implement some of the ideas from this blog and others to help my business become successful.

Happy Birthday! *=) I've found that my main mode of communication and interaction with some of my frequent readers is email. For some reason, they prefer to email me with their questions.. (maybe it's a privacy factor)... either way it's great, and I write up to 100 emails a day to fellow bloggers!

It's my blogs six month birthday this week too. I set myself a range of goals three months ago, relating to site visits, rss subscribers, technorati rank etc.

My goals were very modest compared to yours and I've hit most of them although missed a few others. Now I need to reavluate and set myself new stretching targets for the next six months, plus also work out where I went wrong on the ones I didn't hit.

@Jack - If you can organise it I will turn up :) There are quite a few yorkshire readers here plus a fair few in the forum :)

@Nathania - Yes you are right, it could have been detrimental to have too fast growth. I did do somethings intentionally that I know constrained growth but built it in the way I wanted. For example the ebook could have had a more mass-appeal topic and title, etc

@Adam - hang in there, it will come :)

@Ashish - I guess your best judge for how well you are explaining tech will be feedback, good luck with it :)

@Rajesh - You are doing very well, keep at it :)

@Rory - Compile some of that flagship content into an ebook and offer it as a download incentive using the plugin linked in my sidebar. Also put the email form right in the sidebar and promote the ebook in your email and forum signatures :)

@Alex - Thanks, much appreciated :)

@Jen - I think mixing in forums and comment areas is giving you a broader audience, you have made a good splash for yourself :)

@Patricia - Carnivals are great, though I have never taken part myself I do read them and have linked to them in the past. My wife and I like to read blogs like yours, you never know we might start one and link to you ;)

@Ari - Thanks, that is nice to hear :)

@Roger - Thanks :) Yeah you are right, the first 100 is the hardest, then the first 1000. As Seth would say there is a dip between 100 and 1000 and bridging that makes all the difference.

@Galba - Getting out and about is critical, it's too easy to get stuck in our own ruts :)

@Joseph - Will do ;)

@Marc - Happy Anniversary!

@Skellie - Yeah stretch goals are meant to stretch us :)

@Nathania – Yes you are right, it could have been detrimental to have too fast growth. I did do somethings intentionally that I know constrained growth but built it in the way I wanted. For example the ebook could have had a more mass-appeal topic and title, etc

@Adam – hang in there, it will come

@Ashish – I guess your best judge for how well you are explaining tech will be feedback, good luck with it

@Rajesh – You are doing very well, keep at it

@Rory – Compile some of that flagship content into an ebook and offer it as a download incentive using the plugin linked in my sidebar. Also put the email form right in the sidebar and promote the ebook in your email and forum signatures

@Alex – Thanks, much appreciated

@Jen – I think mixing in forums and comment areas is giving you a broader audience, you have made a good splash for yourself

@Patricia – Carnivals are great, though I have never taken part myself I do read them and have linked to them in the past. My wife and I like to read blogs like yours, you never know we might start one and link to you

@Ari – Thanks, that is nice to hear

@Roger – Thanks Yeah you are right, the first 100 is the hardest, then the first 1000. As Seth would say there is a dip between 100 and 1000 and bridging that makes all the difference.

@Galba – Getting out and about is critical, it’s too easy to get stuck in our own ruts

@Joseph – Will do

@Marc – Happy Anniversary!

@Skellie – Yeah stretch goals are meant to stretch us

Happy birthday and congratulations on your blogging success.

My blogging goals are very modest at the moment as the blog is so young, but overall I couldn't be happier with the launch.

I think that the fact you haven't met your own stretch goals is not necessarily a bad thing. If we set ourselves modest goals there can be a tendency to rest on laurels and not push ourselves as hard as we could. Making sure our goals are always one step ahead of us ensures we're always striving for something. Not a bad thing in anyone's books.
