I know there’s some aspects of getting your business off the ground you’ve struggled with – can’t all have been ace in the holes – perhaps you could shed some light on how you’ve surmounted your own struggles, to help some of these people get through theirs…?

My burning question for Gary:

What are the best practices for rebranding a blog?

I've been blogging at my book website for over a year now (which was supposed to be temporary, until I figured out the over-arching brand).

So now I need to know the best way to move to the new blog without losing all of my subscribers, readers. any tips on this are greatly appreciated.

And best wishes on your new book/new baby...

Gary, You've made your name by selling your passion, but I suspect that your success has a lot to do with how hard you work. I read the free chapter from your book posted on Amazon and you write that the secret to your success are three simple rules:

Love your family.
Work superhard.
Live your passion.

I know that I could accomplish a lot more if I worked longer hours, but that would mean less time with the kids. How have you dealt with this nasty competition for your time? Do you really advise working from 9pm-3am on your passion?

I love Gary's passion for life, from listening to him ive gained alot of passion myself. Thesedays, I try and only do things I love - this makes me happy.

My Question: Would you ever cash out and sell all your businesses/properties so you could retire early? And, what would you do if you found yourself without the passion you currently have?

Gary, I thought you made a great point in your 2009 Omaha Keynote about the importance of having a website as an online home in a digital society. Do you see the mass-adoption of WordPress and similar technologies as decentralizing personal space on the web from social networks?

Gary: I can see the enormous opportunities the free social media creates. with more and more people pursuing similar passions online, It surely will be a big challenge to get heard? Isn't it the case that only the best can make a living from it?

Right from the start when nobody listens to you, how did you manage to get the attention of so many people to hear you out?

Hi Chris,

Here is my question to Gary:

You have a very good reputation in the World of Social Media. How important do you think it is for bloggers/entrepruners to set up a Personal Brand Image in the online Social Media. Pros vs. Cons if any.

Cheers,
Eddie Gear

I would like to know just when and how you became so convinced that what you were doing would work. You basically took your love for wines and brought it to the masses. ("Dumbing Down" was the frequent assessment I believe, from your peers and those close to you.)

It sounds like you basically broke every rule from production to your unscripted rants and critiques.

Was it instinct that led you, flat-out rebellion to challenge the 'wine-elitists' or did it not matter? Was it just the comfort of being yourself and it will work or it won't, but, you could always say . . . I did it my way?

Hi Gary,

The most difficult part of getting people to notice my website and purchase my products is the marketing aspect. Apart from trying to cull a presence on Twitter, MySpace and Facebook, do you have any advice for someone like me who feels as though she is just fumbling her way through this maze called entreperneurship?

thanks for your time.

What wine goes with fish?

Just kidding!

Here's my serious question: how do you triage the tasks and opportunities that come your way? When faced with an endless list of things to do, how do you decide what gets done RIGHT NOW?

OK - i have a question for you Mr. Vee...

Everytime someone asks you a question, you just glide through it and ace it, sometimes it just pisses me off, you make it look too easy!

I know you're maybe your own toughest critic and you're the king of the hustle, but most of the time you just seem to coast through the tough questions with a fallback strategy about personal passion and bustin' your tail.

Some people just have natural talent that them to succeed. They're natural born entrepreneurs, natural born leaders, hustling since they were kids, pickin their neighbors flowers and selling them back to them... what do you have to say for the people who aren't quite like you - and maybe don't know what to do first, cause their stuck in perpetual self-doubt, or some other f*d up personal head space?

I know there's some aspects of getting your business off the ground you've struggled with - can't all have been ace in the holes - perhaps you could shed some light on how you've surmounted your own struggles, to help some of these people get through theirs...?

limbo, due to their own personal challenges of not knowing what to do with their lives, and what's one aspct of getting your business going in which you really struggled

You've been quite successful with video blogging for your company. Do you have any suggestions for what types of companies this works best for (or doesn't)? Perhaps outline some key parameters for success?

Hi Gary,

When using social media to market your product or service, there is a fine line between a successful marketing campaign and being branded a spammer. Can you discuss the techniques you use to maximize your marketing effectiveness while avoiding the spammer label?

Gary, the majority of my clients are Brits and (most) have an inbred reticence to blowing their own trumpet via Blogs/Twitter et al. As the Louis Armstrong of self promotion how do you suggest I get them to listen to me when I tell them it's the way forward for their businesses and overcome their annoying shyness?

Gary,

How do you see social media evolving over the next 5-10 years? Are Twitter, Facebook, etc. here to stay - or are they merely "stepping stones" to something bigger and better?
