wow Chris congratulations. I’ve only been around for a few weeks, but I’ve already enjoyed my stay. I imagine your oldest readers have enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Now I want to see you get up to 200 posts. I don’t know about the rest, but I desire more reading material :p

And lucky you! I’ve checked my stats and i got 90 posts and only 67 comments.
This means that your posts are very well written since for each you get maybe 10 comments in average, i get less then 1.
Although i do have 3,441 spam comments.
I just got a good idea, since 1000 is a nice number, why don’t you reward give out rewards for every 500th commenter or so
I think i’ll do that on my blog to get more comments.

And your subscriber count keep climbing as well. Excellent…congrats! I just converted one of my sites to a blog-based one last weekend, and the weekend before I started a brand-new blog-based site (and no, I don’t build a new site every week!). But, I continue to be tickled every time a new comment comes in, because it means that something I’m doing has connected with someone else. And I like the idea of an award every 500 comments. I’ll have to consider that idea as well. I manually approve all comments, so spam/fluff isn’t an issue for me.

My blog comments goes like this: “There are currently 138 posts and 4,813 comments”. Thats 35 comments per post.

By the way, I’ll recommend to use WordPress Comment Spam Stopper plugin to completely stop spam comments on your blog.
I used to use Akismet and still use it but it’s unable to filter all the spam comments (it isn’t its fault though. The spam bots are turbo charged with Viagra!). Since the day I started using WP Comment Spam Stopper plugin, I can easily breathe in a no-spam environment.
